<br /></div>
<br />
Do you ever feel like it's day one, over and over and over?<br />
I actually think that's great. I mean there is a great reward for those that just remain consistent and never stop doing everything right all the time. But the unconquerable spirit of those that have fallen off the wagon and gotten back up again and again... I am with you!<br />
I am a food addict. I have a hard time kicking the fast food and soda. <br />
I am naturally a total beach bum and would be happy to sit on the couch all the time and watch netflix. Right? Right. I know some of you feel me.<br />
So often I fall out of the daily habit of clean foods and daily exercise. <br />
I started my fitness business to keep me accountable because I would be helping others to get healthy. But there are times when I am not teaching a fitness class or that I have busy days and fast food is just easy... and then.... yup... I've gained a few pounds and feel like crap.<br />
Then I catch it and get back up and go again. Say a few Motivational affirmations about How I can do anything and look at my goals and get back up at it again.<br />
<br />
This is normal.<br />
<br />
So if this sounds familiar - Don't beat yourself up about it. Just recognize that you are trying and go for it. Again.<br />
<br />
It's another type of consistency, consistently getting back up. It is okay. It is awesome. <br />
<br />
Today I started my first day of running. Again. I have a love/hate relatinship with running. I have set a goal of doing another marathon before age 50. I turn 45 next week. SO I have 5 years to get there before my time limit is up. Right?<br />
I don't love running. I love finish lines to cross. I love doing something hard and saying "I did it!". That's what I love.<br />
I tried to get some friends to go with me. But none of my newly professed "running buddies" showed up. So I waited for a minute or two. Then my Dog and my 11 year old son and I headed off. I REALLY did not feel like running. I mean, it's been... I don't know how long since my last actual run. Running is different than teaching a fitness class. It takes different muscles and is a totally different feeling. So, I felt out of shape and really not in the mood. I could have just gone home and said, forget it. This sucks. My friends flaked and running is hard. <br />
BUT, I remembered my day one of my long ago journey where I was very much alone. just me and my dog and I had passed out just walking a block.<br />
I remembered how tough that first day one really was about 10 years ago. That was a different me. But I did it. I took a few steps every day and built up slowly to where I was finally running races. It took years.<br />
On today's Day one, I gave myself permission to start over. To just walk. So I walked. I walked briskly instead of running and it felt amazing!<br />
I did not hate it.<br />
I loved it!<br />
Sometimes we have to give permission to listen to the right voices. There were a few voices today.<br />
Voice 1: Give up and go home. <br />
Voice 2: Run hard even though you hate it. You have something to prove to other people. You can kick ass!!!!!!!!!<br />
Voice 3: Walking is okay too since it's been a while. It's okay to let go of ego.<br />
<br />
I chose voice 3<br />
That was the right choice for me today.<br />
I started over with my running journey today. Walking is ok. <br />
What are you starting over with today?<br />
What are the baby steps you are choosing or are you an all in kind of person?<br />
What are the voices you will be listening to today on your day one?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439369554932056325.post-65629812701612515242018-05-21T06:59:00.000-07:002018-05-21T06:59:01.127-07:00Creating your "Power Hour"As you may have noticed, I haven't posted in a long while. A lot has happened since February. First off, I moved. That was a huge distraction and I am taking that as part one of my excuse. Part 2 of my excuse - I let go of my "Power Hour" for a long time which is the time I used in the morning to write, read, meditate, plan, etc...<br />
<br />
Here why I let it go for a while...<br />
One day my sweet 16 year old daughter and my 13 year old son came to me and said, "Mom, we want to go do bootcamp at 5:30am every morning." My heart skipped a beat. My teenage kids are asking to go workout early in the morning with me? How could I say no? Of course it was in the same time as I was using for my power hour. But I agreed.<br />
<br />
It's been great working out with my kids. Somehow though, I couldn't fit my power hour into other parts of the day. after 6:30am, the world seems to be moving too fast.<br />
<br />
I love my power hour. It's a sacred time in my life. It's a time I communicate with God and find out what I need to do for the day. If nothing else happens right for the rest of the day, I did that hour and it feels amazing.<br />
<br />
SO... I chose to move the workout with my kids to later in the evening so I could have that peace of mind and sanctuary back to me. It is THAT important. As important as my kids are, I NEED to put me first. I found that when my power hour slipped away, I felt more scattered, anxious and had a harder time reaching my goals. My kids will learn by example and we do still find time in the day to spend together and be active. Besides. They weren't doing bootcamp anyway. They were more interested in the 40/20 circuit I created. We can do that pretty much anytime. When I put my oxygen mask on me first, I am better able to take care of my family and other priorities.<br />
<br />
Here's what my power hour looks like:<br />
1 - Make myself a healthy breakfast to start the day (I use Shakeology)<br />
2 - Get on my knees and communicate with God<br />
3 - Read from Holy books or listen to talks from inspired sources<br />
4 - daily affirmations<br />
5 - write down my goals every day<br />
6 - Write in my journal my thoughts and feelings<br />
7 - plan out the day<br />
8 - take time to do come creative writing (15 minutes)<br />
9 - Get in my workout clothes and go exercise!<br />
<br />
What is your power hour? When do you do yours?<br />
Make your day the best and start with YOUR sacred time. It's a must!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439369554932056325.post-50142211686932286222018-02-16T10:30:00.001-08:002018-02-16T10:30:15.004-08:00"I'm too busy to workout."I've actually heard this excuse many times.<br />
The truth is, if you don't want to do something and you don't want success, any excuse will do. This is just one of a very very long list.<br />
You WILL make time for anything that is important to you.<br />
I used to be "too busy" to make my bed and read books. Somehow, I created the time in my life to make those things (and a lot of other things) happen by shifting my schedule a tad and eliminating things that only hinder me from success.<br />
Now you probably think I am slob since I just admitted to not making my bed. That's ok. I kind of was.<br />
Everyone has 24 hours in a day. You choose how to use them and prioritize the things that will make you happiest and bring you joy.<br />
<br />
Here's the thing...<br />
exercise helps reduce the effects of Toxic stress in your life. Stress, if not handled well, can lead to a lot of problems including heart problems, Digestion issues, Cortisol build up that shows as toxic fat cell growth around the abdomen, and more. The funny thing - Exercise helps diminish ALL of that!<br />
It is the BEST therapy you will ever invest in! No joke.<br />
<br />
SO as you are going about your busy day, take a minute in the morning to block in your exercise time. CARVE it out! MAKE IT HAPPEN!<br />
<br />
Take a look at the most successful people you know, who is getting things done and making a difference? Chances are they are in the habit of daily exercise. It clears the head, it takes care of stress toxins, and helps boost your feeling of self-confidence. PLUS, there are a million other wonderful reasons to exercise every day!<br />
<br />
When you make exercise of ANY amount, whether it's 5 minutes or 2 hours, a regular part of your routine, you will see changes in your life.<br />
<br />
I am going through a move and starting up a new business and writing a book and taking care of 5 kids and their crazy schedules. It is so easy to look at it all and say "nope, just can't do it all". Then pass on that window to try and just do laundry or pack or .... You name it... <br />
<br />
But I know something that is the key to creating life-long habits - life doesn't get quiet. If You wait for life to settle, you will be 75 years old and frustrated that your health is failing fast and you don't have the strength to get yourself off the toilet alone. Does that sound drastic? It's the truth.<br />
You can ask several of my clients I work with. I have people coming in to START an exercise program at age 70 because they finally figured out they should have been doing something to help themselves feel better as they aged. I have clients that at age 65 can't get up out of a chair because they have never done a single squat in their lives and are coming to me to finally help them improve their quality of life, because they "Never had time for it before."<br />
<br />
To be honest, years and years ago I used that excuse too. after having 5 babies and feeling overwhelmed with my business and the home and trying to be a mom to very young kids and keep up with my responsibilities in the community and church, I just decided I didn't have time. I told myself that taking time out for fitness was selfish. I mean, My husband would love me even if I was overweight, so it wasn't necessary for me to lose weight for him. So... I just let it go. Fast forward a few more years and I was depressed, passing out while taking a walk, and incapable of caring for and playing with my kids. It BECAME a necessity to fit in daily exercise. I did have to push a little to convince my husband that time for me to do this was critical to being a better mother and wife. He eventually saw the change in my attitude and became more supportive of me taking time for me.<br />
<br />
Your only excuse you have is you!<br />
<br />
Here is a simple 5-10 minute workout for you to do in the morning before you do anything else...<br />
10 of each (repeat as many times as you have time carved out for.<br />
- High knees (bring knees up toward your chest, alternating sides, go as fast as you want, the faster the better right leg and left leg = 1)<br />
- Chair squats (sit down and stand up, try not to use your hands, add weight if you need a challenge, also get rid of the chair and go deeper/ lower if you are ready for it, but keep your knees aligned over your ankles not rocking forward.)<br />
- Pushups (either on your toes in plank position or on your knees, or against the table or a wall if you are a very beginner, lower your chest toward the ground/table/wall and press back up to starting position. Keep back straight.)<br />
- Sit ups (lay down on the ground on your back and sit up to touch your toes. You can do a modified version sitting in a chair and reach over head then crunch down to touch your toes flexing your abdomen if you are unable to get on the ground.)<br />
<br />
Just 4 exercises you can repeat as many rounds as you want. You DO have the time. I am not even going to argue with you about it. SO decide today to be the best YOU there is and create an amazing life.<br />
When will you CARVE that time out for physical self care?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439369554932056325.post-57027046364861444462018-01-11T10:29:00.002-08:002018-01-11T10:29:28.274-08:00What are your non-scale victories?<div style="text-align: center;">
I am feeling super good today!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I weighed myself and haven't dropped any weight in 3 months.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I should be upset and angry with "no results", right?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
WRONG!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let me tell you what's going on. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I lost 5% body fat this past month. I lost 3 inches in my waistline. I can do more push-ups. I can run faster. I can lift more. I have more energy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
BUT... the scale didn't move. I should be upset because of the scale.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's what I know...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Muscle takes up a LOT less space than fat!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am getting stronger, that means I am gaining some muscle.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My body fat percentage is going down. That means I am losing Fat.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If all I had done was lost fat and hadn't increased strength. I would just be thinner and not more capable. But because I have gained strength I am thinner AND and more capable. PLUS having the muscle mass helps to keep weight off by burning more calories while at rest.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is why it is CRITICAL to kick the scale focused program of your health journey. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Remember my story of the skinny runway model that passed out at my bootcamp several years ago? She was skinny but she couldn't last 5 minutes of a warm up. That's bad!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She wanted to lose 10 more pounds and be skinnier. All she knew was the importance of the number on a scale. When I told her she was going to gain a few pounds but have some shape to her, she quit the program because she didn't want to eat more food than one diet coke and a salad every day and over do her cardio til she was nothing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
YOU GUYS!!!! We have to stop this!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Track your progress, sure. But find appropriate ways to do so.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Use a calipers or other tools to test your body fat.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- measure your waistline and track inches lost.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Watch your pants size change.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Take a photo in your bathing suit every few months.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- test your abilities occasionally (push-ups, hold plank, etc...)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Sign up for a 5k every few months and see if you are getting faster and better.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I feel amazing today. Not because of the scale, but because of my body fat percentage and push-ups. I even took a quick sprint and found I could move faster and wasn't as sluggish as I was 3 months ago. What are you celebrating today? </div>

Cheers!</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyQSLsai48DMm9k4mEMHtcQpLRc4qRV_2QdfZTGIulAo9rZ6bEJkbjgbZBSQdfM-YykkJZVYKC6pCe6V81Ld9fzO0GVXxVsZg9zeI2TtApTZfAQSyi_yNzmpDhJ5uR-ErijBU5hL3dXDE/s1600/b44fb57932168fd4b8891d7c9e26a261.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="626" data-original-width="632" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyQSLsai48DMm9k4mEMHtcQpLRc4qRV_2QdfZTGIulAo9rZ6bEJkbjgbZBSQdfM-YykkJZVYKC6pCe6V81Ld9fzO0GVXxVsZg9zeI2TtApTZfAQSyi_yNzmpDhJ5uR-ErijBU5hL3dXDE/s320/b44fb57932168fd4b8891d7c9e26a261.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How do you know if you are getting enough water?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, there is a mathematical formula to help you know exactly the right amount of water you should be drinking depending on your weight. BUT, since I was a PE major and totally hate doing math, I am going to tell you the easier way....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Check your pee.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yup.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Get real here. What color is your pee? If it is orange - you are dehydrated. Bright Yellow? You could stand for more water in your life.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Light yellow and almost clear - YES! You got it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How frequently do you need to visit the john? You should be going pee frequently. The downside to getting the right amount of water is frequent trips to the bathroom.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just to get a little personal here, I probably have to pee maybe 4 or more times a day. Back in the day when I drank very little water, I was maybe going once a day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
SO why make the trade for more bathroom visits? Isn't that annoying?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well folks, would it shock you to know that most people do not get enough water and are dangerously dehydrated.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
AND that soda and sugary drinks DO NOT hydrate the body. Do not count that diet coke as your fluid consumption!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Water helps</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Lower your blood pressure</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- lowers cholesterol and reduces risk of stroke and heart attack</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Moisturizes the skin</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- reduces acne</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- reduces water retention</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- helps you to eliminate... eh hmm... "body waste"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Boosts overall levels of energy long-term (unlike caffeine)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- prevents headaches</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- slows the appearance of aging process by making your skin look younger</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- helps with weight loss</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- helps keep blood sugar levels in check - great for diabetics</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- lubricates your joints</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- helps prevent cancer by flushing toxins from the body</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- helps prevent neurological disorders like Alzheimer's by keeping blood vessels in the brain healthy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- improves overall mood and reduces depression. (try it for 30 days and see if I am wrong)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- improves sleep</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- and yup, it will boost your immune system!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So put down the diet soda and pick up that water bottle!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I once had a first and only time client that showed up to class with a diet soda in her hand. I greeted her and welcomed her to class. Our conversation went something like this...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
me: Hi! Welcome!... (blah blah blah... general greeting...)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Her: (very unhappy sounding) yeah, my doctor told me I had to start exercising. I am not thrilled to be here. I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and have to make some lifestyle changes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Me: (boldly crossing a line here - Grabbing her soda out of her hand) Well let's start here. All the exercise in the world won't make much difference until you start drinking more water instead of soda. (hands her a bottle of water).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Her: Oh Hell NO! (grabs her soda and throws the water bottle at me) Water is for bathing in! I am NOT giving up my Diet Coke!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I laughed a little and thought ... "Enjoy your Diabetes, lady." I never saw her again. I wonder how she's doing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you have not made the switch from soda yet, take this challenge and do so today! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Start feeling amazing! You might go through actual withdrawal symptoms like I did. It was rough at first but SO worth the extra effort and my life is better for it!</div>

When I was struggling in a deep depression nearly 10 years ago, I asked God for help out of the darkness. Guess what the inspiration out of darkness was - light. Yup. The answer that came to my mind was to get out and see the sun every day.<br />
I came to view myself as the little robot from the movie "Wall-E". My batteries die if I don't see the sun.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cute movie by the way, I highly recommend it. It has a wonderful message. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We get so caught up in the day to day living that we forget what life is meant to be.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We have this amazing world around us and we spend most of our time inside stuck on our electronic devices. Take today to set those devices down, finish you personal and business stuff quickly on the computers, set that timer and get it done if it must be done. (I am doing that right now.) Then, shut it off and get outside for some fun. If it's cold where you are, bundle up! I grew up on a ranch in southern Wyoming where temperatures often plummeted below freezing and snow piled high. Some of my favorite memories are bundling up in snow boots, gloves, hats, scarves, several layers of clothing and snow suits. Then after we got to the "I can't my arms down" </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
level of bundling, we went out and built snow forts, went sledding, had epic snowball fights, etc... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGEZFv6bJyBiAd2RLwOK48ZHIlB4lQvG5HfXtc0Y3fp2pvD9g0t25C_dvBh4s22d2Va4SZV1Oes2coX_XfKxW6PAtr2lSA9cWw_GBEqmTzSVqJipIMOdJOyecH6Z33pXbGP20xzKIh33o/s1600/Cant-Put-Arms-Down.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="275" data-original-width="490" height="179" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGEZFv6bJyBiAd2RLwOK48ZHIlB4lQvG5HfXtc0Y3fp2pvD9g0t25C_dvBh4s22d2Va4SZV1Oes2coX_XfKxW6PAtr2lSA9cWw_GBEqmTzSVqJipIMOdJOyecH6Z33pXbGP20xzKIh33o/s320/Cant-Put-Arms-Down.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On rainy muddy days, we would go "mud-whomping" (sliding down muddy wet hillsides) or played mud football.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As an adult have you called your adult friends and ever planned a game of mud soccer?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_IXfr_WpotBpbixWCp1VtzdwqAV3NVzhAR-3YFGTo-1YIVS2vft-0qMA8nGBaNBWB9sh-Ez-ccOgkhWQqjZR7wf_hIaDtAVL66OECgRxMjMNqY6VHgCiw-VHx4oP9Uf7BP1tLAc2Yw3M/s1600/Mudfootball.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_IXfr_WpotBpbixWCp1VtzdwqAV3NVzhAR-3YFGTo-1YIVS2vft-0qMA8nGBaNBWB9sh-Ez-ccOgkhWQqjZR7wf_hIaDtAVL66OECgRxMjMNqY6VHgCiw-VHx4oP9Uf7BP1tLAc2Yw3M/s320/Mudfootball.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I feel very blessed today as I live in southern Utah and enjoy pretty decent weather. It's January and I might have to put a light jacket on for my hike this afternoon after I clean the house.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have to be honest, the only reason I exercise and teach fitness classes is so that I can help myself and others enjoy outdoor play time without injury. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mud games and snow fights not your thing? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just get out for a quick brisk cold weather walk.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMoAW9WoegM4IkE805jQkBw1z4s-UlHNMhHkVjp79FV-yJH_Mxm2jIfZoFn3EKwTj44pFJFwOTS8j6zDEjIT5l71dy68_MuUP6ibwnQST7-wPVMDldvufbluoX-RqSvyrqx379o2dROoo/s1600/526682952.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="679" data-original-width="1024" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMoAW9WoegM4IkE805jQkBw1z4s-UlHNMhHkVjp79FV-yJH_Mxm2jIfZoFn3EKwTj44pFJFwOTS8j6zDEjIT5l71dy68_MuUP6ibwnQST7-wPVMDldvufbluoX-RqSvyrqx379o2dROoo/s320/526682952.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I can tell you that my life has changed since making this a priority in my life. On days when I neglect getting outside and seeing the sun, I feel a dip back where I don't want to go. The best antidepressant you can find is getting outside. I promise!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This year I am making a resolution to take daily walks and hike more trails. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Join me in changing your mental state and happiness this year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And hey, it also burns calories. There is that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Time to shut it down and get out there!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cheers!</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_H-Ct9BbO5qdpCnhm9hRcZmD3fYO5U8TTXBJ3y173WIebYgOrq4URoIZGn24D54muOc1wvPnBgGARRBfBJRODbL6ICPyZ8t-WaFnWmTqsUpQRwA13liQLpe_9Dh7Mbb12yCY2drs8QOY/s1600/images+%252814%2529.jpe" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="225" data-original-width="225" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_H-Ct9BbO5qdpCnhm9hRcZmD3fYO5U8TTXBJ3y173WIebYgOrq4URoIZGn24D54muOc1wvPnBgGARRBfBJRODbL6ICPyZ8t-WaFnWmTqsUpQRwA13liQLpe_9Dh7Mbb12yCY2drs8QOY/s320/images+%252814%2529.jpe" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Your challenge today:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Reflect on last year and ask yourself "Am I a better person today than I was a year ago?"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I believe this is more important than asking if you dropped the weight or hit all the goals and resolutions you set a year ago.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Truth is, we often fall short of our goals. It's not that the goals themselves weren't worth setting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If in reaching for those goals you are better today than you were a year ago - CONGRATULATIONS! Feel great about the reaching for something better.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Keep setting those goals. Keep striving for greatness. It's my belief that life is about becoming a better human step by step. Perfection isn't real. But a step toward a better life, better habits, better health - THAT is attainable.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I believe in setting goals. I believe in reaching for more.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Take some time to reflect on what you did this past year that made you a better version of you.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then take some time to meditate and pray and ponder on what will take you to the next best place for you this coming year in the following areas:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Physical</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Mental/ education</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Spiritual</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Social/ community</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- family relationships</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Financial </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Set goals in all those areas and live daily to become a better version of you. Read more Books, Get outside, Take more time to communicate with God, Volunteer, Date your spouse, play with your kids, Save a few more pennies for the future.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We could get into the details of what Goal setting really is... But maybe we will do that another day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Imagine if you just strive to do one thing today that made your life better, and you did that every day. My hope is that by this time next year you can look back and say, Yup, I am a better person today than I once was. I forgave someone. I feel happier. I have more energy. I am stronger. That is my hope for you this coming year in 2018.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Blessings to you - </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Michelle</div>

<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Hello 2018!</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs58epHGtlHbZ85XqMlhGMYw3tX6vxRGJhyv3wFIwodgWKjOrqrYDk4xvF7OwNwUeYa3qny82GZrAE6PYX3nT8hSP8X05HtvdXcQjLOmkNKbgOO8VAoau3IdSQlTAusk5KCsjVSaAHtqY/s1600/images+%25284%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="201" data-original-width="251" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs58epHGtlHbZ85XqMlhGMYw3tX6vxRGJhyv3wFIwodgWKjOrqrYDk4xvF7OwNwUeYa3qny82GZrAE6PYX3nT8hSP8X05HtvdXcQjLOmkNKbgOO8VAoau3IdSQlTAusk5KCsjVSaAHtqY/s400/images+%25284%2529.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love the New Year! I love hitting a refresh button. I feel like New Year's day is a giant "do over" button where I get to remake who I want to be.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In truth, the sun sets and rises just like any day. It's just another day really. But there is a feeling that comes with the change of the year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Why in the world do we have this thing called "New Year Resolutions?" Studies have shown that most people do not make them happen and in fact give up within the first 3 months of the year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you go to the gym past March you watch it happen. Classes and gyms are crowded in January and by the end of March... ehhhh... not so much. What happened to those New Year's resolution people?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Where do they go?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Where do you fall in? Are you a New Year Resolution drop out? Or are you something different? Are you one of those rare and wonderful beings that takes those resolutions to become better and actually makes it happen?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you are not the latter, are you ready to become one?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was in a discussion with a facebook friend of mine regarding this topic. He suggested that if you go into the New Year thinking you will be different and that this coming year will bring you all the success you wanted, that you are wrong. You are still the same person with the same habits. He's right.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I told me friend that I had the right to claim 2018 as my own because I set used the year before to set myself up for the success I wanted. I made difficult changes in behavior. I let go of things that held me back from success. I reached further and worked harder and smarter. So I am claiming 2018 as MY YEAR!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I want to see you get 2018 as well. Take this year to make those changes, break those old habits and create new ones.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In truth I treat every day like a reset button. Every Sunrise is MY OPPORTUNITY to get closer to my goals. Every day I write down my goals. EVERY DAY! Seriously! I don't skip a day to wake up, meditate, read, journal, write my goals and map my life for the day, week, months and year ahead. Then I fuel my body with a nutrient dense shake and go exercise. This is why I get to claim this year as mine!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I claim each day as MY day!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today is my day!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And if I am in the habit of claiming the day, I get to claim the week! I get to claim the month and the year! 2017 was a tough year in the fact that challenges came up I was not expecting. But I claimed those challenges. I met them head on, I sought help where needed. I prayed, I changed, I grew, I let go and I saw remarkable things happen because of those amazing challenges. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2017 was my year, 2018 will be too. Not because life will be easy, but because I have the tools to deal with those challenges, grow and become better. You have those tools as well. We all do. We get to choose whether to take on those challenges or let them defeat us. It is always a choice - to become better or to become defeated. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of my daily affirmations I say every morning is "I cannot fail, only learn, grow and become better than I have ever been!"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my mantra this year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Make this your year by making today your day!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All the best - </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Michelle </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Yes, that is me about to run a 1/2 marathon race in December. It's COLD! I hate the cold. It's why I live in the desert. When it does get cold here, I don't have a ton of cold weather gear, so I get creative to get outside and enjoy it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One thing you will learn about me as you follow this blog - I am not afraid of the fashion police. I am odd and quirky, but I know how to have fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love Saturdays! Most of us live a work week Monday - Friday and have weekends off. There are the exceptions and in the summer, I am one of the exceptions when I am working my other business at <a href="https://digpaddlesports.com/" target="_blank">Dig Paddlesports</a>. If your schedule is flipped, find anyday you want that becomes your personal recreation day. I suggest weekly. If you can do it more often, you live a wonderful and blessed life. Enjoy it! I am lucky that my work affords me that. My work and my recreation are one and the same often. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On your personal recreation day - whatever day you choose to make it - Get outside! I know it might be cold being December and all, but sometimes the cold brings a load of fun! Put on the snow gloves and snow boots and have a snowball fight with the neighborhood. That kills 2 birds with one stone - social interaction and the need for our bodies to be outside. As kids we used to play mud football in the rain. Or do what we called "Mud Whomping" - find a muddy hillside and "sled" down. I am sure my mom really loved those laundry days. Out here in Southern Utah, the cold is relatively mild compared to our friends in the North. Zion canyon is quiet right now. This is a great time to avoid the crowds and enjoy your favorite hikes in Southern Utah without ANYONE around! It's amazing that we go from millions of visitors to quiet in just a couple of months out here.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We were not meant to be cramped up inside around the TV and computer screens. This is the new disease of our age - lack of interaction and outdoor activity. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So... What will you do today? Make it outdoors and find some people to do it with. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a Blast today!</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The moment you take responsibility for everything in your life is the moment you gain the power to change anything in your life. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtRZpDAHA8mOpGlbAlcnZ8ls5i-WCwjMly1_d5eHV_ln1ywl6YBVjO0nVKbyaACpVb0dBrPExnsSTHnLGyWnoMcx12Fejhf_iRGjPV5r050nyAk5X3RRNcxglnP1GBBk0XH20HH4X9epQ/s1600/images+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="225" data-original-width="225" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtRZpDAHA8mOpGlbAlcnZ8ls5i-WCwjMly1_d5eHV_ln1ywl6YBVjO0nVKbyaACpVb0dBrPExnsSTHnLGyWnoMcx12Fejhf_iRGjPV5r050nyAk5X3RRNcxglnP1GBBk0XH20HH4X9epQ/s400/images+%25282%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To clarify, no, you are not responsible for crimes committed against you if you have been the victim of a crime or abuses. That is something else entirely. However, you are responsible for your actions, behaviors, failures, successes and attitudes following anything that has occurred to you.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"I'm unhappy because my mom used to beat me as a kid."</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"I'm overweight because I was molested."</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"I can't exercise because my husband won't let me take a break from the kids."</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Those thoughts are what must change.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As long as we use our past hurts and other people as reasons for our failings or unhappiness, we will never change our behaviors.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If any of these things sound like you, then it is you I am speaking to: It's my husband's fault I am unhappy. It's my kids' fault I'm unable to exercise. I gained weight because of my children. I had feelings of insecurity because of a childhood wound... etc..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Those are attitudes we CAN change. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7EMEsPf1a9C1neb24O84mjvxAoMYJSFWE4JtF0z_KEgI0KpjO-52q1D3w7-PSZej9rOnI0GdmSGpOoTEH7C1mJdbUIDTf8jJJt1GFuIWseyKFFKhXkQhV6RnC9RIxgxMKngsZZRbR6J8/s1600/images+%25283%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="225" data-original-width="224" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7EMEsPf1a9C1neb24O84mjvxAoMYJSFWE4JtF0z_KEgI0KpjO-52q1D3w7-PSZej9rOnI0GdmSGpOoTEH7C1mJdbUIDTf8jJJt1GFuIWseyKFFKhXkQhV6RnC9RIxgxMKngsZZRbR6J8/s400/images+%25283%2529.jpg" width="398" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The moment you accept the responsibility that your success and happiness is up to YOU and no one else, is the moment that change can begin to happen in your life.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's how it works...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've heard many women over the years say they can't exercise because of their kids. And yet, I've seen women pushing jogging strollers in races! I danced with my babies in the living room or have done push-ups to kiss my babies faces, or weighted squats holding a child in my arms. Many gyms and fitness studios offer child care and sometimes for free or free with trade for babysitting services. Including my favorite little Studio in Hurricane Utah- <a href="http://phazesfitness.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Phazes Studio</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
BUT, it's not MY job or anyone else's to find your solutions for what to do with your kids so you can get the exercise YOU need.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What about your happiness? Do you blame your unhappiness on someone else? Can you become happy in the situation you are currently in? Or do you need to change your situation? When you find out that you CAN change anything and develop the inner strength to do so, it is an amazing self-discovery. Developing inner strength is the same as creating outer or physical strength, it is something that starts weak and can be exercised to increase in your ability to do the things you need to do for your own happiness, success and health regardless of your living circumstances or past hurts. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of my favorite daily affirmations I read every single morning is this "The moment I take responsibility for everything in my life is the moment I gain the power to change anything in my life!"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I am. And I feel powerful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge64ynUe6RUei8F_eSChk5qwJBLmFuU9aYzBXTj0A00uuXdDpbWZ3ZNEDUwItOMJsMFhUh2fsQ4fxnspSwueRKQ5BCYdpaz-lvWwieQsVclU3RnaIJgTCxP5S819NdL2h_MU6fxlzOKAA/s1600/images.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="183" data-original-width="275" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge64ynUe6RUei8F_eSChk5qwJBLmFuU9aYzBXTj0A00uuXdDpbWZ3ZNEDUwItOMJsMFhUh2fsQ4fxnspSwueRKQ5BCYdpaz-lvWwieQsVclU3RnaIJgTCxP5S819NdL2h_MU6fxlzOKAA/s400/images.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I feel powerful when I decide to make changes regardless of life circumstances. Life is busy. My family is demanding. I have a crazy schedule with my 2 businesses. All those things could get in the way of me reaching my physical goals or taking time doing what matters most. Today my husband and I went to a 30 minute HIIT class together. Usually we don't do that. But today I asked for what I wanted. I wanted to spend time with him. I want to be healthy. And I needed a quick workout that pushed my limits. Asking my husband to join me because I love him and want to spend time with him is just one way of being assertive in asking for what you need. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Don't use excuses anymore. Make choices and take responsibility for everything in your life. What choices will you make today?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Try looking at life through the eyes of a person that takes responsibility for everything and see what changes you can make.</div>

I have a passion for health and fitness.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a passion for day planners and checklists and goal setting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a passion for writing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am so excited to see all the things I love to do coming together in a huge way.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In 2018 I will be releasing a project I am working on to be available to all of you in a HUGE way! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let me explain my passions a bit...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Writing -</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was the A+ English student in school. I was the kid who has read all the books and loved to write long reports. While other kids whined about multiple page essays as assignments, I was silently cheering. I had one teacher write on my 13 page report that was only supposed to be 2 pages, "This is great, but I don't have time to read it all. Try to shorten the next one. You get an A- because it's a little too long. It would have been an A+." In high school my dream was, I was going to be a writer. I knew it. I went to college and chose English as my major. My dream was crushed when one of my English professors didn't see my writing as awesome as my high school teachers had. I hated the red pen all over my papers criticizing everything. I apparently wasn't good with criticism. So I gave up on my writing career and switched to psychology, and then dance/ Kinesiology. But I still love to write.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz_UVjSz4fGdF9u_wnWengts5x5LYlpNiyg5HrSsLlqkEYwva1gcqoGuwnnPxvBjANY_hXM-feSJYNaXNfbLkv3nrfT3kk11YMA3pOkI5oPSim5OqcZQCXMwq81U__jPclnSMs9HuhfM0/s1600/25348396_10155150250321347_4544478664606508871_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz_UVjSz4fGdF9u_wnWengts5x5LYlpNiyg5HrSsLlqkEYwva1gcqoGuwnnPxvBjANY_hXM-feSJYNaXNfbLkv3nrfT3kk11YMA3pOkI5oPSim5OqcZQCXMwq81U__jPclnSMs9HuhfM0/s320/25348396_10155150250321347_4544478664606508871_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Day planners and checklists -</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am a HUGE fan of Franklin planner systems. I grew up on them. When I didn't have the budget to buy a cool planner, I would make my own. Every day was mapped out with timelines and to-do lists. I found that I functioned better when I sat down and looked at the day and mapped everything out. I have been in that habit for many many many years. I can't even remember when I started doing it. I know that the times I took breaks and didn't do this that I was unfit and depressed with no focus for my life. My husband doesn't function quite like I do. He rarely looks at a calendar or schedule. I live by them. So we have to try and get used to each others methods for success. I have found that he will often hijack my planning pages and write things like "Kiss Bill" on my to-do lists. It's his hilarious way of trying to make sure I plan some time for him in my busy life. And he is right. Sometimes I plan so much, I forget to take time for those important relationships. So I have learned to plan all that in as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Fitness -</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you've been following me at all, you know I love exercise and living an active lifestyle. I can't sit still for too long. I love dancing, hiking, Stand up Paddling and everything that moves the body and gets the blood flowing. But most importantly, I love seeing other people be able to do all those things. I created the Phazes 40/20 circuit as a way to create healthier bodies that could move and do all those amazing things that gives life some fire. I love being able to help anyone of any fitness level, no matter how challenging, to do things they have never done before. I love seeing physical changes that bring mental changes and vice versa. I have been blessed to be able to do this for the past decade and more.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love calendar blocking, timelines, vision boards and all of that. My upcoming fitness project will incorporate all my passions here into your fitness routine. It's fascinating and super awesome to realize that my crazy passions can actually bless other people's lives. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Take some time to write down all the things you love to do and are passionate about. Is your work involving any of those? Are you living a life that brings your gifts, talents and passions to light? You were given abilities and talents. Write them down. Do things every day that shines a light on those talents.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Keep following me... I am stoked to bring some really exciting things later next year. I am working on those dreams daily for you to enjoy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
God Bless</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Michelle</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hey you amazing people!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are you in the habit of daily exercise yet? I have something that I believe will change everything for you if you will commit to 30 days of trying it out...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First thing in the morning - Get dressed in your workout clothes and get ready to get sweaty!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At night, before I go to bed, I write down my workout plan for tomorrow in my calendar and then I pick out 2 sets of clothes to set out for the morning.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 - my workout clothes for the first part of the day</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 - my "real" clothes and accessories for after I shower post-workout.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I find that setting it out at night makes it easier to make those healthy decisions in the morning.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The alarm goes off, I get dressed to workout and am in workout mode down to lacing up my Zumba shoes that I love. I wear those shoes for circuit and for running too. Then I fill up my water bottle and start rolling with my day. I might not workout for a couple of hours, but I am ready to go and it is on my mind so I don't skip it because I just don't want to change 3 times in a day. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The best scenario is to workout before you do ANYTHING else in the day. 5:30am Bootcamp or an early morning run before the kids are up is perfect! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But, I teach mid-morning classes and It's easier and better for ME to hit a 9 or 9:30am class. So, I get in my workout clothes in the wee hours of the morning and am ready to roll out the door with NO EXCUSES!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After I come home is when I shower and put on "real clothes" so I don't stink all day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you are struggling with getting in the habit of daily exercise, try this tip for 30 days and see if this changes your resolve to get up and get moving!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cheers!</div>

<br />
<br />
Last night my family enjoyed a Glady's Knight concert together. We took my Mother-in-Law and my kids (except my oldest that had work conflict - sad story).<br />
<br />
When we told our kids we were going to this event, they said "Who?"<br />
<br />
WHAT?? WHAT?? You mean, you don't know who this is???<br />
<br />
So we began an education into the background of R&B and Soul music in America and forced them to watch every Youtube video we could find with Glady's Knight and the Pips.<br />
<br />
But it didn't do the live performance justice. DUDE, That lady has still got it at age 73!<br />
Yes girl!<br />
<br />
She was sexy and vibrant and could belt it out! Plus funny and witty and so much fun to listen to her stories.<br />
<br />
Glady's began rattling off her musical mentors from her early years in, those that helped her and taught her the ropes of showmanship and the entertainment industry. Just a few of the names I remember her mentioning: Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, BB King, etc... etc... The list went on and on of amazing musicians in a time my kids don't even know. I was in awe of the pieces of American music History this woman was carrying with her.<br />
<br />
My favorite highlight of the night was seeing the look on my 18 year old son's face at his first concert when the music came on, the energy was high and she started to sing it loud and proud. My kid squealed like a teenage girl just met her teen idol. It was adorable! But it was a Teenage Boy watching a powerful 70+ year old woman that is now a great grandmother and still rocked that stage like the star she has always been. Krazy Kool.<br />
<br />
Then there was the romantic songs. I loved being next to the love of my life and holding each other through songs like "Your the best thing that's ever happened to me." and "Neither one of us, wants to be the first to say goodbye."<br />
<br />
Such amazing times last night. Such great memories. It was the first concert of it's kind that we have taken our kids to. And I am going to put this out there... I want more.<br />
<br />
Connection doing things together that build relationships. That's what today's focus is in this blog. Our family has been super strict on where we choose to spend our money. Concerts for a family our size is not a thing that we choose to spend our money on. We like food.<br />
<br />
Last night for us, it was a concert from a music legend. But family connections can happen anywhere, doing anything. If you still have kids at home, let them be a part of the decision making process of how to spend time together. Or at least throw out a few suggestions and let them choose between a few choices you approve of.<br />
<br />
You could do anything really. Free stuff, like hiking or making a picnic to take to the park. or even sitting next to your teenage son and playing that stupid video game alongside him. Tell him you will play that game with him today, if he goes to Yoga with you tomorrow. I don't know, maybe not. Teach your family that time together is valuable. I have decided that QUALITY concerts are now a thing I will make sure we invest in. I had way too much fun not to do that again with our kids.<br />
<br />
Tomorrow my kids and I are going to go volunteer at a race aid station. We love doing that kind of thing. They get to be inspired by amazing athletes and give back with their time and service. Plus, it's another free way to get out of the house, do something fun and meaningful together and enjoy an active lifestyle, even if they are not running the race. The truth is, every time we do one of those aid stations, I have a kid that says they want to run a race. So, it's a win-win-win situation for all of us.<br />
<br />
No kids at home? Contact a family member. If they live close, meet up and do something. If not, at least a phone call or better yet, video chat and connect face to face. <br />
<br />
Today your challenge is to find one way to build those family relationships.<br />

<br />
<br />
I regret to inform you that I am not as well-read as I used to be when I was in 8th grade. Sad but true.<br />
When I was a kid I couldn't be found without a book in my hand. I once was that loner kid on the playground hiding behind the school with a book. Books were my best friends. I read everything I could get my hands on. I remember sneaking into my older brothers' rooms and stealing books from their shelves. I was in 4th grade when I read the Lord Of the Rings trilogy. I would hide in closets with a flashlight and a book. By the time I got to High School I had already read all of the required reading for English classes. Probably because I stole those books from my older siblings shelves while they were reading them for High School when I was in Elementary. To my siblings - If you ever got in trouble for lost books, I apologize. This is my 35 year late apology.<br />
<br />
My High School English teachers allowed me to test out of required reading. Every. Single. Required Book. Including the Scarlet Letter. Already done. All done before the 9th grade.<br />
That's about the time I stopped reading books. It's also the time I started sports and Cheerleading and all that crazy extra-curricular stuff in life, jobs, homework, etc.... It's not that I became suddenly stupid. I just got busy. And it got worse from there.<br />
<br />
After college came marriage and kids and reading for fun wasn't something I did anymore. I made time for reading my scriptures but that was it. Apparently I am not alone. There are multiple reports you can find online about Americans and book reading. According to most research, after we leave school (high school or college), we quit reading books.Well, maybe not most of us, in fact it's really only a little over 25% say they haven't read a book in the past year. I would have fallen into that category until recently.<br />
<br />
Okay, now back up....<br />
I am not saying I don't read ANYTHING. No. Not true. There is a LOT of information to be found on the internet. I actually do a LOT of reading articles and studying topics of interest. But books... eh... not so much.<br />
<br />
There are many ways to improve your intellectual health. You can take classes. Watch videos on topics of interest you want to learn more about. You can read articles. I love signing up for webinars. Another favorite thing for me is finding new fitness programs to get certified in just to learn about it and further my skills as a trainer.<br />
<br />
Today I am working on picking up books again. The really crazy thing, back in the day, I used to want a home library, a huge room in my house lined with bookshelves. You know like on Beauty and the Beast when the Beast shows his library? That was my dream room once. There is something nostalgic and wonderful about flipping pages that you just don't get looking at a screen.<br />

<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439369554932056325.post-29238329883369306302017-12-06T08:07:00.000-08:002017-12-14T09:26:26.674-08:00Let's chat about your pillars...Are you aware of the pillars of health? It's a concept I was introduced to over 20 years ago by some Japanese business men at a so-called "Sales training" meeting. The company was Nikken Inc. The training was their beginner level training called "Silver Training". It was for their sales team, but I went because I wanted to have some self improvement. I wasn't a Representative of the company but, my dad, Larry Proffit, was the VP of Sales and Marketing and the was main Speaker and lead trainer for Nikken at the time, SO I got a free pass in. Lucky me!<br />
<br />
The company is based in Japan. They brought a weird way of thinking about business over here to us Americans. It was interesting to note that at that "sales team meeting" not one word of sales skills or how to improve your business by increasing sales, was brought up. We didn't even learn about their products that they sell at all! It was purely Self-Care and self improvement. They were big on creating a Life-Cycle plan or a HUGE vision board that mapped out 10 years of dreaming in Several areas of health. They called this the "5 Pillars of Health".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4tdXeCRjSbUEccZvHpHZymDQYMlSIHUVSKnjBzr8wY3ma_5RNtNorDKwtgCXr1J8M4n9CViyRNJZLU7AUYbwe19nOTbQzvncJJ9aUf_l2k4yEOo78tMvVV4Pd_erqGyS812spxGM71s/s1600/download+%25285%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="200" data-original-width="250" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4tdXeCRjSbUEccZvHpHZymDQYMlSIHUVSKnjBzr8wY3ma_5RNtNorDKwtgCXr1J8M4n9CViyRNJZLU7AUYbwe19nOTbQzvncJJ9aUf_l2k4yEOo78tMvVV4Pd_erqGyS812spxGM71s/s400/download+%25285%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The concept that you cannot be an effective sales representative for the company if you are not balanced in these areas of life, was the training for the weekend. It was very revealing. I did do my vision board/Life-cycle plan. And I do have to say, most of that stuff I put on the vision board has happened. It works.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since that training, I have gone on and researched "pillars of health" and have discovered, there are a LOT of philosophies of what those Pillars of health actually are:</div>

<br />
There are dozens more philosphies about Pillars of health out there. Some get super complex. I decided that my business needs to be simple and based around the basics. I don't need my life complicated anymore than it already is.<br />
As I was setting Goals with my kids, I asked them what they want in some basic areas of life and challenged them to set goals in those "pillar" categories.<br />
I changed them around a bit and made it 7. You can create your own categories if you want or take it and adjust all of the above ones as you see fit.<br />
<br />
Here are the categories I decided were important for balanced life, health and success:<br />
1 - Spiritual<br />
2 - Physical<br />
3 - Work/ finances<br />
4 - Emotional<br />
5 - Intellectual<br />
6 - Social (friends/community)<br />
7 - Family relationships<br />
<br />
I might be a "fitness Professional", but what I have discovered is that when someone is out of whack in one of those areas of health, they have a difficult time reaching their fitness goals. As a personal trainer I found I was dealing with people that had loads of "baggage" and garbage built up in other areas of their life and until they released it or dealt with it, they struggled to feel good, drop weight or develop healthy eating habits. It's my belief that true physical fitness/health is a result of feeling amazing about who you are and what you are capable of. This comes as a result of repaired relationships with God, family, community, wealth, emotional well-being and your relationship to money too. It's all connected. I guess the relationship can be flipped and you could say that your financial well-being could be the result of balance in the other areas, and so forth. Your health in each pillar category is increased and becomes better as the other pillar categories come into balance.<br />
I left the business of Personal training because I was tired of helping people get the perfect butt when they were just unhappy with their marriage. The perfect butt and waistline wasn't going to fix it. I was tired of dealing with unhealthy people with unrealistic physical expectations that really needed a more well-rounded approach to true wellness. I no longer consider myself a personal trainer per se. I am a wellness professional today. I focus on whole wellness over physical perfection.<br />
<br />
As you read this blog and follow me, you will see me focus on addressing the "pillars of health". Each day, I am striving to focus on just one area of my life to improve. In a perfect world, all 7 would be addressed daily and worked on. But baby steps is a great place to start. So, each day, I challenge you to look at just one area of your life and improve in that place for that day.<br />
<br />
Sunday - SPIRITUAL - How is your relationship with God? Do you take the time to pray, meditate and listen to his desires for your life? It is my belief that we have a supreme being that cares about our well-being who reaches out to us. It is up to us to listen. You may have a religious affiliation or not. I believe all of us are children of God. Have you taken the time today to build on that important relationship? It is up to us to listen quietly and reflect on the love he has for each of us. I know that as I have done this, I have found inspiration for my life and the path I need to take in all other areas of health.<br />
<br />
Monday - PHYSICAL - I do believe in movement daily as well as balanced nutrition all week. Not just once a week. But Mondays are a great day to start again with planning your meals and workouts. A strong, healthy body helps boost your immune system and rid yourself of the blues. Move and re-commit to your fitness and nutrition plan every Monday.<br />
<br />
Tuesday - WORK/ FINANCES - Take this day to look at your career and financial goals. Are you going the right direction? Are you saving money? Is your business healthy? What adjustments need to be made today or what action plans need to happen to bring you closer to your dreams?<br />
<br />
Wednesday - EMOTIONAL - Do you think before you react? How are you managing stress? This is a good day to be a little more aware about your emotional responses to people and situations. What do you do when someone cuts you off in traffic? Or that crazy coupon-er that takes too long at the grocery store in line in front of you? How is your emotional well-being?<br />
<br />
Thursday - INTELLECTUAL - Do you take the opportunity to learn something new? Are you reading any books? Taking an on-line course? What are you doing to ignite that amazing brain of yours? Your education should always be a priority. Have you taken time to learn from masters in the field of your interests and hobbies? Or how about learning something new that you have never tried before? How will you ignite your mind today?<br />
<br />
Friday - SOCIAL - How is your relationship with your community? Your friends? This might be a good day to connect to an old friend or find opportunities to serve the community. I have heard people say, "I don't have any friends". So what about reaching out to others that also feel lonely? Quit sitting in front of the screen. Turn off the electronics for a bit and connect face to face with other people. How is your social health? Take this day and find one way to improve in that area.<br />
<br />
Saturday - FAMILY - When was the last time your talked to your mom or dad? Brother? or Aunt or Uncle? What about other family member you have been out of touch with. Would it be weird to pick up the phone and reach out over the miles to say "I miss you and I love you. Remember when....?" Take today and reach out and touch someone. Was that AT&T's slogan back in the 80's? This is also a great day to take the kids on a hike or a date with your spouse.<br />
<br />
That's it.<br />
Those are MY pillars of health I will be focusing on as we work together to build a happy, healthy life. I guarantee that as we work on these pillars of health, you will see increase in fitness results, joy, and peace. This is the secret formula. I am telling you!<br />
<br />
<br />
Are you ready for true bliss? I know I am.<br />
<br />
- Blessings,<br />
Michelle<br />

Next month it will be the year 2018. That is the year I will officially turn 45 years old. I remember when I thought that was SO OLD! A few days ago I had a conversation with a beautiful woman who came to one of my group fitness classes. She mostly just stood there and observed. At the end of the class she told me, "Your classes seem really too intense for me. I will be 50 soon and I think it's time I just faced the fact that I can't do everything I used to be able to do. I think it's time I settled down and was more gentle now that I am turning 50."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She has no idea how old I am.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I see 2 ways to look at this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 - Sure, you can be gentle on your body. I go back and forth. I choose gentle exercises like Tai Chi or Gentle Yoga occasionally to mix it up. I recognize the importance of honoring your own limitations as they are today and being careful not to go to crazy extremes just to prove something or keep up with the "young'uns" in class. I get it. But I know you can build on from here, no matter what age.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 - I also get that there are 75 year-old athletes out there outdoing me. I am reminded of that every time I sign up to run a race. Not that personal fitness is a contest. It's not, (for most of us). But, to determine that there is an age where you just have to "face it" and say, "Nope, that's it!", is crazy. Unless you have had a serious injury (or other illness that keeps you from moving), as long as you are living, you still have the opportunity to improve your cardiovascular health and strength. The day you decide that improving your fitness is no longer for you, is the day you begin to deteriorate more quickly and your quality of life diminishes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I refuse to die before I am dead!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've decided that when I turn 50, it's going to be my best year ever!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That being said...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I want to be super-real for a minute. And, we are going to get a little graphic here:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was talking to a couple of sisters following a Zumba class one night. They were telling me about how much weight they had lost and that they felt super self-conscious of the amount of leftover skin and stretch marks they had on their bodies. During our conversation, I realized I was old enough to be the mother of the 2 of them. It's crazy right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I decided to show them my belly under the cute yoga pants I wear to hold it all in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Are you ready for reality? I'm warning you... My kids run screaming when I show them this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am warning you...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Only look if you can stand a "mommy belly"...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh yeah, and following a summer of eating badly, too. I was kind of crazy the summer of 2017 and gained a few pounds. SO, I have a new starting place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I mean 6 kids bigger than 9 lbs each.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Yup, I gave birth to 6 LARGE babies. Now, granted, I have also been thinner. This belly is following a summer of eating a ton of garbage and not doing the 40/20 circuit much. I have recently recommitted to the circuit and to better nutrition. I am taking myself through the Phazes 12 week transformation challenge as I develop it for YOU. So, you will see this change. I just want YOU to know what is possible. But, yeah, this is the belly of a 44 year old woman in pretty good shape. Maybe not her best shape but, pretty good shape. I am strong and can handle a hard fitness class and keep up with the kids in class. But this is my belly. I do have a goal of going down a bit in my body fat percentage. But I am in a very healthy range for my age.<br />
<br />
<br />
Okay,<br />
<br />
Now I am going to pull up my yoga pants and take a more flattering photo of my post-6 baby and 44 year old belly following a summer of junk food:<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Wow, amazing transformation. It looks like I just lost 10 pounds by pulling my pants up. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Suddenly I am a LOT sexier, no?<br />
LOL!<br />
<br />
Now you all know my dirty little secret of the belly under the support in my stretchy pants.<br />
<br />
No really. I think a lot of us see the glamorous shots of fitness pros that know how to angle a camera and know what clothes to put on. We don't see the stretch marks. We don't know the stories. We don't know the age.<br />
<br />
When I tell my clients they are half my age, they choke a little. They usually don't get the "privilege" of seeing the belly in the photo at the top. They usually don't hear how many babies I have had or that I lost 60 pounds... Yeah... there is some left over skin hanging a bit. But my body doesn't have to stop just because 50 is coming around the corner or just because I have more of a belly than that OTHER amazing. thin, beautiful instructor that's half my age. There are some AMAZING ladies coming to my fitness classes that are nearly twice MY age! They come and do what they can because they KNOW that life is better when you are moving and not concerned about how you measure up to the next person in class.<br />
<br />
Quit worrying about how your body compares to someone else's or if you are as fit as the next person in the class. Just move that body of yours! It's an amazing gift! Love it!<br />
Make this coming year YOUR best year!<br />

<br />
<br />
This image of sheep will make sense if you keep reading. Because right now, it seems rather silly.<br />
Here are my thoughts today. I was sitting here enjoying Oprah Winfrey interview Tracey Morgan on her series "Super Soul Sunday:" I was enjoying Tracey discussing his life experiences and how being in a car accident changed him and his perception on life. I was touched.<br />
<br />
I made the mistake of reading other people's comments.<br />
I should have known better. UGH! While most people were uplifted and were commenting about the great story and inspiration they were receiving, there were those few... those very few... who were idiots. Yes, I am using the word idiots. I am probably wrong. I am sure those negative individuals probably just have a different life experience and have no idea what they are saying is so ridiculously wrong. Let me let you peak into their comments:<br />
<br />
"Oprah should interview real people not rich folks who we real people can't relate to."<br />
<br />
"Tracey Morgan is just a rich actor, He's not relatable."<br />
<br />
"We need to hear from real people."<br />
<br />
Etc...<br />
<br />
I am sure Oprah or any person who has thousands of viewers is used to the negativity that comes with putting yourself out there for others. It comes with the territory, I know, I know.<br />
<br />
ANYWAY....<br />
What I learned from those folks making the negative comments was that if you have a profession that you worked hard at, like Tracey had (apparently those people missed that part of the interview), once you get rich and famous you are no longer human and have nothing to offer the rest of the world of average people still "slumming it".<br />
<br />
Uhhhh.....<br />
<br />
I'm confused.<br />
OK folks. Here's the deal, you can choose to learn anything from anyone anywhere of any background, color, social-economic status, gender, nationality,.... uhhhhhh.....<br />
<br />
what else?<br />
<br />
YOU decide if you can learn or you can shut your mind down because YOU decide if you are unteachable.<br />
<br />
Tracey Morgan and I are very different people. He is a black man, comedian, with a youth history of drugs and alcohol. I am not. He's got a lot more money than me and has been divorced.<br />
<br />
I am a white woman, Mormon, never touched a drop of alcohol or drugs in my life, only been married once, can't even stand most of Tracey Morgan's comedy, Living in Utah, still rising out of financially rough times. my life is VERY different from Tracey's. But I found myself riveted to his story of triumph. I loved his testimony of God's role in his life. I found myself learning and growing from what he had to share with the world.<br />
<br />
Did you know the thing he is most grateful for in life is... LIFE everyday?<br />
<br />
It's a beautiful sentiment.<br />
<br />
As I was listening to him and loving what I was gaining, I was reading a few comments about how he was unrelatable. And yet, there I was finding him very relatable to me. A white, conservative female in Utah living a lower class lifestyle was finding a Black comedian living an upper-class life after rising out of Drug use and alcohol and a broken marriage.... I found him relatable. I was learning while a few other closed their minds because they chose not to see the similarities or they chose not to learn because apparently they believe you can only learn from someone who is in your exact shoes. It's a sad state of mind.<br />
<br />
That brings me to the picture of the sheep above.<br />
<br />
I am blessed with a very wise mother. I grew up on a ranch in Wyoming. My uncle and grandpa raised sheep and cattle. As we drove down our 2 mile dirt road, we were often stopped by a herd of sheep crossing the road in front of us. I remember the time my mom took the opportunity to find all the life lessons she could think of while watching the sheep cross in front of us. "sheep and teenagers are a lot alike...." she went on with her analogy which I don't really remember.<br />
<br />
My mom took opportunities often to teach us metaphors for life from the animals on the ranch or anything she saw in front of her. I learned from my mom that you can learn any life lesson wherever you choose to look for one. If I can learn about life from a herd of sheep, surely I can also learn from a man who rose out of rough situations to stardom! Right? We look different, we think different, We are very different. But he has something to offer and I can choose to see it or reject it.<br />
<br />
Maybe those negative comments on Oprah video were made by people who have never learned this amazing skill of learning from anywhere. <br />
<br />
I choose to learn. I learn from everyone I meet. Life is better when you see everyone as having something valuable to offer the world.<br />
<br />
Take that challenge and try it out. See if things seem better and brighter and more awesome.<br />
<br />
<br />

I have taken images and words that convey what I hope for in life and taped them onto a poster board for me to look at every day. This is not a new concept. I have done dozens of these over the years. Almost every training seminar I go to suggests surrounding yourself with the imagery of what you want in your world. <br />
"What you surround yourself with, you become."<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So... with that in mind. I took on a challenge to define myself. To try to become who I want to be. What is it that I want?<br />
<br />
As I was listening to a training video by one of my role models (Chalene Johnson) she suggested drawing a picture of who you want to be. What is the image you want to portray. Well.... I drew my picture. I hated it. Mostly because I am a lousy artist. But also because I can't capture in a single drawing every piece of me I want to envision. and how I want to see me.<br />
<br />
I began asking myself, Who are my role models? Who do I want to be like when I grow up? <br />
I started making my list of who I admire and my list of amazing women grew and grew and grew. I found I admired people, not because they were perfect, but because they were unique, had amazing qualities I could learn from. I found myself picking more and more and more. Of course it would be impossible to be ALL of these women wrapped into one. I can only be ME... whatever that is. In the meantime, I can seek after qualities I want to improve in me.<br />
<br />
Here is my partial list of people that have attributes of what I want developed in me when I grow up...<br />

I would say that even if she weren't my mother. a mother of 10 kids and as faithful a lady you will ever find who still knows how to party when the time is right or not right... (all those irreverent giggles in church.... and parodies of church songs.... sheesh....) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And my list of amazing women could go on and on and on.... all the people I have met who have inspired me. There are too many to put here. I find God has surrounded me with the most amazing people. I find something in almost everyone I meet that I can take and learn from and try to better myself. I want to be like a piece of all of them.</div>
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So There you have it. A snapshot of the kinds of women I admire and want to reflect when I grow up. I want to be a great mom and wife and daughter of God. I want to be generous and kind and seek to serve. I want to be fun, and dance and smile and help others to do the same. I want to be smart and lead and make changes. I want to be fearless in the face of death when it comes to standing up for what I believe in. I want to inspire people to change their lives. I want to be strong and fit and healthy. I want to be remembered as honest, kind and loving. I want people to know me as a servant of God and having loved mankind. I want to have done all I could do to make this world a better place to live in for future generations. <br />
I know I cannot be all these people. I will be Me. I will be the best version of me I can be. What that will look like on a picture??? I really don't know. Certainly the photo I have here can't represent the whole me. But it makes me giggle. So it stays.<br />
